Quantum foundation wins impact award for improving access to health care in Palm Beach county

May 24, 2010 — The Donor’s Forum has announced that the Quantum Foundation has received a prestigious Impact Award in recognition of its funding of FoundCare Health Center in Palm Springs, FL. The award recognizes grant making foundations that have demonstrated innovative leadership, bold vision, and significant impact in advancing the common good through effective grant making.

“Quantum’s grant to FoundCare was unique in that it is serving as a trailblazer for changing access to healthcare in Palm Beach County”, said FoundCare Executive Director, Yolette Bonnett, “by establishing the FoundCare model for other healthcare centers in Palm Beach County and beyond, Quantum has assisted in bringing a unique vision of a community health center to Palm Beach County and will use this template to continue to close the gap to healthcare access for the uninsured.”

The Foundation has granted more than $1 million dollars to the organization for the establishment of the health care center which served 1700 patients in its first year of operation. FoundCare is also on its way to becoming a Federally Qualified Health Center which will bring more medical services to the underinsured and uninsured in the area.

“Our mission as a Foundation is to improve and advance health care and health care access to Palm Beach County residents and FoundCare is one of many ways we are doing that, said Chairman of the Board Stephen Levin , “we are honored to be recognized with this award, but the real winners are those working day in and day out to make sure all families get quality care despite their ability to pay.”

A board of national Foundation experts judged the Impact Awards and said the Quantum Foundation deserved the honor because the grant was given after extensive research into the lack of access problem and unique solution to it. The panelists also commented on the initiative as a model for the future of health care in Palm Beach County.
