Quantum Foundation Grants $20K to Support Local Haitian Community

The Quantum Foundation today approved emergency grants to two local Haitian organizations. Hands Together of the Palm Beaches and Intercultural Family Health Education Center will each receive $10,000 general operating support in the wake of the earthquake in Haiti. The dollars will be used to support local efforts in the Palm Beach County Haitian community and be directed towards the residents who are most affected by the devastation.

“Our county is home to some 60,000 residents from Haiti, most of them have family and friends who are directly impacted by this tragedy”, said Jeannette Corbett, acting President of the Quantum Foundation, “the grant dollars will allow these organizations to provide immediate assistance to our local families.”

Nancy Anderson is the Executive Director of Hands Together of the Palm Beaches she says the Haitian community in Palm Beach County is turning to these organizations for information and assistance in the wake of Tuesday’s earthquake. She believes the local needs will grow as more of the realities of the devastation are clear and is prepared to offer support. The Intercultural Family Health Education Center will use the grant dollars to help supply grief counseling and support for those who have lost loved ones in the earthquake.
